Goblet of Fire Fan Reviews
By Alexander
Goblet of Fire (GOF) was my favorite book in the Harry Potter series. So you can imagine my enthusiam when I went out on the monday after the release to see it. The movie started out almost exactly how I had imagined it, except that Voldemort's hand was a puppet and really looked fake. The music for the beginning was perfect for me (Sort of a darker Hedwig's Theme).
After Frank Bryce died Harry woke up at the Burrow, but was that the Burrow? You couldn't really tell until Harry was with the Weasley's going to the Portkey and the showed an aerial shot of the Burrow.
When they met Amos Diggory I was like, 'This is exactly how I imagined he looked like in the book', but then Cedric made his grand entrance. For those of you who don't know, Cedric drops out of a tree. I thought it was highly impropable to me that Cedric would drop out of a tree. And when they come out of the Portkey, Are they walking in midair?
The Quidditch world cup wasn't missed, I thought that they had to cut something out. Whatever. But the camp scene with the deatheaters to me was perfect. I missed the whole S.P.E.W. thing but if they don't introduce it in the OOTP then they're going to have an uprage.
KRUM. Why is it that Krum is the exact opposite than in the book? In the book he's tall, lanky, and in the movie he's short, and I actually thought he looked kind of, stubby. He also has a buzzcut when in the book Krum has long hair, but WHATEVER. Plus, I counted, and he only has 2 lines in the entire movie.
Fleur, well they don't explain anything about the VEELA part or anything like that. Plus she only has 3 to 4 lines in the entire movie. Cedric looked perfect, but I always imagined him as a person that Harry could connect with, instead he seems mad when he gives him the clue about the underwater stuff. And also Harry seems to dislike him, and in the 3rd task, Harry thinks about leaving him to die in the maze. Also are they racist or something because the people form Hogwarts have the most lines.
First task, great, nothing new except the Horntail breaks loose and Harry kills it.
Yule ball seemed misplaced, after all the whole movie seemed like an action movie and not an HP movie.
2nd task was great, and overall the best task, or at least the one that was most like the book.
3rd task, DIFFERENT. The maze just collapsed on people instead having creatures in it.
GRAVEYARD WAS AWESOME!!!!! Voldemort was perfect and the acting was impecable. HARRY CAN CRY NOW. It seemed like Daniel Radcliffe learned how to cry since POA.
Overall, it was pretty good, but it was still my favorite HP movie, and don't forget to look at Voldemort's hand in the RIddle House because it looks so fake that you might walk out of the movie right then and there.
