Goblet of Fire Fan Reviews

By Ruthie

Please note: If you haven't read the book or seen the movie already there are some spoilers.

Over all, the movie was good, although rushed and choppy. My major complaints are:

1. Dumbledore just isn't Dumbledore-ey enough, he doesn't get that mad.
2. The director (Mike Newell) left a lot of stuff out, not the least of which are Dobby and Winky, S.P.E.W., and the majority of the plot, including much of the information that maybe necessary for later movies.
3. The Director changed several thing that shouldn't have been changed.

On the other things, I thought these things were very well done:

1. The Humor: this movie is very funny, despite the darkness necessary for Voldemort's return
2. The Graveyard scene and when Harry returns to Hogwarts was quite well done, you could really see Harry's emotions and Voldemort's sadistic evil
3. Voldemort: By the end of the movie I really really didn't like him (this is a good thing) and the actor(Ralph Fiennes) did a really good job of portraying just how evil he is.

By the end of the movie (if you're anything like me) you will be left feeling very sorry for Harry and wanting to kick Voldemort and hit him with hard things. You either will cry or not be able to after not blinking for about two hours. This movie is rated PG-13, and may be too scary for younger or really sensitive kids, although if the child's parent watches it first they should be able to tell if it's right for their child (and which scenes you may want to get a soda during). It should be fine for all but the most sensitive thirteen and up year olds and even tougher nine year olds. Finally, I will say this: this is not the book, but if you think of it as a supplement to it, it will be fine, just remember that it is only two hours long, and as my mom says: "if you're looking for the book on screen, you will be disappointed"

Quotes
They make a fuss about Hogsmeade, but I assure you, Harry, it's not all it's cracked up to be. All right, the sweetshop's rather good, and Zonko's Joke Shop is frankly dangerous, and yes, the Shrieking Shack's always worth a visit, but really, Harry, apart from that you're not missing anything.
